Brown leather leather case, with three compartments inside, silk dividers, two keys, and’France’ in black lettering to the lid. Containing 29 large folding vintage colour lithographic road maps designed for the use of motorists and cyclists. These include 25 road maps of France and 4 maps of the environs of Paris, together with one Guide Taride (in French) for 1907. The maps are segmented as usual and laid down on linen for ease of use. The maps fold out to an impressive size – the road maps measuring 100cm x 70cm and the Paris environs maps 89cm x 69cm. There are also two large fold-out maps in the Guide Taride. Very Good to Near Fine condition. The case with some light scattered marking. The Guide Tirade practically unread. The road maps in lovely condition. The Paris area maps with some foxing to linen covers. Please ask if you require a more detailed condition report, or view gallery images. A wonderful full and complete case of 25 road maps of France, 4 maps of the Paris region, and a Guide Taride guide book for 1907. The maps and book fit perfectly in the case, and none are missing. A pair of keys is still present. One leather strap on the inside of the lid was clearly intended to hold a compass or magnifying glass, though this accessory is not present. A fabulous piece of motoring history, and a wonderful item to take with you when you tour around France in your classic car. Indeed, the boot of any vintage automobile is not complete without a case of maps such as this.
