RETRO RARE France Politique Linen Mounted PULL DOWN Spring Roller Wall Map. A Work of Art Suitable for Framing – Make this lovely map yours! No others like it! This colorful map is a work of Art which was created by the famous Cartographer, R. Graindorge, and published by Hatier Publishing House, founded in 1880. Close examination using a’loop’ (‘magnifier’) reveals that it was exquisitely printed for it’s day. Very fine lines are revealed that are not apparent with the naked eye. A fine example of Copper-plate Printing. It would be appreciated more if it were framed and hung on a wall for close up viewing instead of retracted on the spring loaded roll up rod it comes with. In order to produce a Map of this caliper, gourds of data had to be collected, assembled and edited; elevating this historic and beautiful map to the status of a collective Work of Art that surpasses any mundane painting produced by a plaza artist. The story this Map tells with regard to the whole Population of France in 1954, is deeper than any story told by any Street Scene Painting. A French Historian’s Treasure, it is! This Pulldown Map is wound on a roller. Roller mechanism is working perfectly. There is a wood pole on the bottom with a round ring that is there for the purpose of withdrawing the map from the roller encased in a metal cannister. There is a Label on the bottom wood pole that reads: HATIER FRANCE. Hatier was a French Publishing House specializing in scholarly works and educational materials, now integrated into the Hatette Group. Hatier was Founded in 1880 by Alexander Hatier.
