The map is very detailed depicting the names and the places of the indian tribes, the region of the Great lakes and the Mississipi. In the upper left side, the detail of the Gulf of Mexico with the delta of Mississipi. In the lower right side, a nice view and plan of Quebec. In the left side of the map, some text gives the details of the history of this region. There is a lot of explanatory notes on the map about the places and the tribes. His famous work is the “Atlas Historique”, published in seven volumes between 1705 and 1720. This encyclopedic work explains the history and the genealogy of the continents, with the geography, cosmography, topography, heraldry, and ethnography. The text is from Nicolas Gueudeville, a French geographer. Henri Chatelain represents the golden age of French cartography. 1719 (undated), XVIIIe Century.
