











Title of the map. Monumental and unusual antique Plan of PARIS (France), named “Plan de Bâle”, edited by Champion, Paris, in 1877. This plan has been printed from the old plan of Olivier Truschet and Germain Hoyau, realised around 1533, durin the reign of Henri II. There is only one exemplar of this plan of 1533, in the Library of Bâle. This one has been made by Fedor Hoffbauer and has the same size as the ancient plan. To the left side of the map, the Arms of the King of France, surround with the surrounds of Saint-Michel, to the left an interlacing of 3 croissants, the personnal devise of Henri II. To the right side, the Arms of the city of Paris. On each corner, an angel which represents the winds: Subsolanus, Auster, Favonius, Septetriones. In the lower part of the map, 3 cartouches “Icy est le vray pourtraict naturel de la ville” In the left side on the center, the praise of Paris in 78 and 30 verses. The 14 first verses tells about Gille Corrozet, printer and bookseller in Paris. Size with margins: 145 x 106 cm / 57 x 41,7 inches Size without margins: 132 x 94 cm / 51,9 x 37 inches Condition: good condition, on linen Edition: XIXe century, 1877, Paris.
