Pre-owned and used map of Africa and Southern Europe printed on paper and backed with linen or light canvas. This map is a highly decorative large piece that shows Africa in the 1920′s with country names as they were at that time and pink colouring to countries suggesting membership of the British Empire – as was. 38 / 95 cm. 30 x 75 cm. This map is in generally good vintage condition, showing the signs of wear expected in such a piece including discolouration, folds, creases and slight nicks / tears. The wooden bars (top and bottom) are a newer addition and the map is held onto these with drawing pins. There are holes that show that it had been previously attached to a different frame originally or at some stage in its long history along the top and bottom edges – behind the current wooden strips.
