The atlas was so popular that many editions were published in the subsequent 30 years. So, owning this would mean you own 1/900 AND. Owning a piece of cartographic history. Even better, this particular map was not part of the later editions and historians claim only about 4000 of these maps were produced which means that this map is closer to only P. 1/450 in existence today. I have been trying to do research to determine if this particular map is from the first edition of the atlas in 1570 or one of the editions in the years following…. And I know it is an edition after 1570 but before 1598. The map itself is from the 11th plate in the atlas and depicts the. FRENCH & BELGIAN coastline (Estables to Calais) and the surrounding region. The map is in color and written in Latin. Note: this map is the one you will receive. The size of the actual map together is about 13″ x 12″ (33cm x 30cm).
