Large map of France in antiquity by Nicolas Sanson published 1797. Copper engraved map on thick hand laid paper with later hand colouring. Nicolas Sanson (1600 – 1667) was and engraver, cartographer and publisher working in Paris in the early years of the 17th Century. His son and grandson continued his business and his maps were printed and improved upon long after his death. This map was republished by Delamarche in Paris in 1797. Page size is 77cm by 57cm. Map area is in good condition for age, engravings are clear. Centre fold line as issued. See photos for condition.
